Limbus LabGet Hooq for Jira (opens the Atlassian Marketplace)
Help centre menu

Before you start

Check these points before you create your first Hooq.

Requirements

  • Jira Cloud. Hooq is an Atlassian Forge app for Jira Cloud. It is installed from the Atlassian Marketplace.
  • Hooq installed on every instance you want to sync. A sync between two different instances needs Hooq on both instances. A sync between two projects on one instance needs it on that instance only.
  • The same version of Hooq on both instances. For a Hooq between two different instances, both instances need to run the current version of Hooq. Connecting instances that run different versions is not supported.
  • Two projects. Decide which projects you want to connect and which work types should be copied.

Permissions

  • Only Jira administrators can manage Hooq. If you open Hooq from the Apps menu without administrator rights, you see the note Hooq is managed by Jira administrators. Ask a site administrator to do the set-up.
  • For a sync between two instances, a Jira administrator on each instance is needed: the connector is set up on the Hooq Connectors page on both instances, and the other instance approves your Hooq request.
  • Team members do not need the Hooq page. Every user who can see a work item can use the Hooq - Work Sync Panel on it: Resync, add a comment and add an attachment.
  • All other Hooq pages and actions are for Jira administrators. A regular user who reaches one gets the message This action is restricted to Jira administrators.
  • The Hooq dashboard gadget is for Jira administrators only for now. A regular user sees Hooq dashboard data is available to Jira administrators. in the gadget.

Plan your mapping

Write down, before you start:

  • Which work types in project A match which work types in project B.
  • Which fields should be copied (Summary, Description and Priority are a good start).
  • Which statuses in project A match which statuses in project B. A status you do not match does not move the copy.
  • Whether comments and attachments should go both ways or only one way.
